Thelma, a below poverty, domestic worker at city hall works quietly in the mayor’s office day in and day out just to keep the lights on. When her child becomes the latest child fatality in the city, she quickly learns that some people “can’t afford to be victims.” Being from the wrong side of town, she’ll have to fight politics and classism to get justice for her child… but like any mother, she’s up for the fight of her life.

Atlanta Child Murders the stage play is loosely based on the infamous case from 1979 to 1981 where 28 children, adolescent, and adults were murdered in Atlanta.  Though it does stick closely to many of the facts, including the real names of the victims and public officials; it goes beyond the murders and explores classism and politics that may have lead to the arrest of the controversial suspect at the center of it all.
